Calling all fly girls and b-boys! Join Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation’s Artist in Residence, Paige Hernandez, for an interactive dance workshop. Explore significant hip hop choreographers, different styles of hip hop dance and regional/cultural influences. Then it‘s time to stretch and flex before you learn a brand new hip hop routine.
About Paige Hernandez
Paige Hernandez is a critically acclaimed multidisciplinary artist, recognized as a performer, director, choreographer, and playwright. A proud AEA actress, she has performed nationwide and worked with institutions like the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian, and La Jolla Playhouse. Her honors include four Helen Hayes nominations, the Maryland State Arts Council Award, and recognition from The Huffington Post, American Theatre Magazine, and the Washington Post. Known for her work in inclusive, trauma-informed theater practices, she’s also a frequent Disney presenter and recipient of the Victor Shargai Leadership Award. In 2023, she was appointed to the Maryland State Arts Council. Paige currently serves as Associate Artistic Director at Everyman Theatre and tours internationally with her company, B-FLY ENTERTAINMENT.
Know Before You Go:
- The south entrance off of Blvd of the Arts will be CLOSED for this event. The primary vehicle entrance is off of 10th Street to the west of the Roundabout at 10th Street and N. Tamiami Trail. The primary pedestrian entrance is on Blvd of the Arts (6th Street).
- The Bay is designed to be “one park for all” and is built to full ADA compliance. The Bay is committed to providing an open and accessible, free and welcoming experience for all park guests. Handicapped Parking is available on the north side of Blvd of the Arts, near the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and by the Blue Pagoda (655 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236).
- Free parking is located around the site— along Blvd of the Arts and Van Wezel Way, and in front of the Van Wezel, Municipal Auditorium and Blue Pagoda. Please avoid parking in designated Sarasota Orchestra parking areas.
- Some events attract large crowds: Arrive early, be kind, and please be patient.
- All pets must be non-aggressive and on a leash at all times. Owners are expected to pick up after their pets.

NOTE: This event will happen rain or shine. Based on Florida’s unpredictable weather, location decisions will often be made closer to the time of the event. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Municipal Auditorium (801 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota 34236). In the rare occasion that an indoor location is unavailable, this event will be cancelled. Location changes or cancellations will be communicated via The Bay website calendar, Eventbrite, Facebook and Instagram.
