Mangrove Bayou Construction Begins Progress

If you’ve been out by The Bay, you may have noticed the stakes on the lawn lining the mangroves – which mark the first steps toward realizing our future Mangrove Bayou Walkway.

Today, our partners at Jon F. Swift Construction continued the momentum of realizing the possibilities for this piece of Phase 1 and put up a fence that officially starts construction for the walkway, which is estimated to be completed by the end of the year.

The best part? The area around the construction fence will be open and accessible to all park goers during the construction process.

We recognize that the installation of this fence and the construction are a temporary inconvenience. However, we have ensured there will be alternative walking routes during construction process, and importantly, the new walkway will be a significant revitalization of the area for everyone.

Thank you to Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, the City of Sarasota, philanthropists Bob & Lin Williams and a generous anonymous donor for their support to make this part of The Bay Park possible. Thanks to them, and many other donors who have supported The Bay, including The Patterson Foundation, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, and Selby Foundation, we will all enjoy the beauty of the Mangrove Bayou Walkway!
